The Batu Ampar Urban Village Office, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, now has a national standard rainfall gauge.

Batu Ampar Urban Village Head Achmad Ruslan said it was used to determine the intensity of rainfall that falls in the area thus 72 personnel of PPSU could more quickly anticipate in case of inundation.

"If the rainfall is high, personnel will be sent to check the conditions of the main river and the main market connecting channel in the field," he said, Tuesday (12/22).

He explained, if it showed rainfall above 20 millimeters per hour, it could be categorized as heavy rain conditions and had the potential to cause inundation, especially in RT 01, 03 and 18/RW 03 areas, as well as a number of locations in RW 05 which are in the lowest plains and close to the banks of the river and the channel.

"Thus far the current rainfall is still around 12-15 milliliters per hour. That means it is still safe, it won't have the potential to cause inundation," he explained.

According to him, the condition of the upstream channels and rivers in his region had been normalized and was expected to minimize inundation.

"We continue to try to minimize inundation at the peak of the rainy season," he stressed.
